Dennis Cheek Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Dennis Glenn Cheek, age 68, born on November 2,1957 and returned to glory on June 24, 2026. Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit, his laughter, and his love remain alive in every life he touched.

Born with a natural confidence and a heart big enough to hold the world, Dennis lived his life with purpose. Many knew his nickname to be "Mr. Cash" for his love of money, cars and the finer things in life. He was funny, smart, hardworking, and a true hustler in the best sense a man who believed in showing up, giving his all, and lifting others as he climbed. He loved those that loved him. He carried a warmth that made people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Dennis was an educator, a provider, and a steady presence for countless people. His love and loyalty were unmatched for his family, friends, and work family. He poured himself into every role he held — mentor, father figure, friend, and guide. Children especially gravitated toward him; he had a gift for making them feel safe, supported, and loved. His impact stretches far beyond what can be measured in words, woven into the lives of those he encouraged, guided, and believed in

He leaves behind a large and loving family, Dennis is survived by his wife Enna Mae Cheek, devoted mother, Faye Leach; his father, Colon Depre Cheek (Linda); his children; Whitney Wilson (Gregory) and Maurice Cheek (Natasha), his longtime companion Erma Jean Farrington; siblings Colon Cheek (Amp) and Chontai Baldwin (Thomas) along with an extended circle of relatives aunts/uncles Carlene Farrar, Julius Farrar, Charlie (Lydia) Farrar, Katie Farrar, and Jimmy (Euphalia) Farrar. Grand children Victor and Vincent Cheek; Ke’Shauna Boone. A host of nieces/nephews, god children, cousins, work friends, and so many loved ones who will forever carry his lessons, his unwavering love, and the memories he shared. Dennis worked a number of jobs from Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, NC; This End Up Raleigh, NC; Sears in Pittsboro, NC; Ford dealership Pittsboro Nc; Burger King management in NC; Sports Durst Durham NC to his most recent 20 years plus position with Sunstate Security in Durham/Raleigh NC that he loved so much and devoted most of his time to.

Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the blessing of his life — a life lived boldly, generously, and with a heart open to all. We trust that he now rests in God’s eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who went before him, and watching over those who remain.

May his memory be a comfort, and may his spirit continue to guide us.
