Mrs. Alice Delores Brown Taylor, age 85, of Sanford, NC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Alice Delores Brown Taylor was born on July 13, 1939, in Emporia, Virginia, to the late Jesse and Mary Alice Brown.

Affectionately known as Delores, she later moved to Baltimore, MD, where she met the love of her life, Mr. Marvin Taylor Sr. After their union in marriage, they relocated to Marvin’s hometown of Sanford, NC.

Delores devoted herself to caring for her children as a homemaker. After they began school, she began working at Coty, where she remained for 17 years. She then retired to care for her mother. A few years later, she took on a part-time job at the Palomino Hotel. Upon leaving that job, she found joy in staying home to care for many of her amazing grandchildren.

Delores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished her family deeply and poured love into every role she played. She especially enjoyed watching Family Feud and was always excited to see what kind of suit Steve Harvey would wear on the show.

She was also a faithful and dedicated church member who dearly loved her pastors and her church family.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Taylor Sr.; her parents, Jesse and Mary Alice Brown; two brothers, Luke and James Arthur Brown; and one sister, Louise Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Derrick Taylor (Geraldine), Cynthia Garner (Steve), Marvin Taylor Jr. (Donna), Delisa Williams (James), and Rex Taylor (Clarinda); grandchildren, James Spears (Rita), Steven Garner (Latoya), Donta Williams (Erica), Elisha Williams (Dre), Courtney Garner, Brandon Williams (Kebrina), Chad Taylor (Cierra), Josh Garner (Joanna), and Brianna Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jayden Garner, Kimora Williams, Zachary Williams, Ka’Leigh Williams, Jada Garner, Kallie Williams, Ava Adams, Kaliyah Williams, Harmony Taylor, Camden Taylor, Aziel Harris and Julian Garner; sisters-in-law, Ann Ramsey, Deborah Baker, and Hester Purcell; special friends, Judy Mellette, Shirley Mae Petty, Ella Mae Paige, Kathy Baker, and Anna Hunter.
