Mrs. Delois J. Samuel was born on October 8, 1926, in Moncure, North Carolina to the late Raymond Judd and Elizabeth Harris Judd. She transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Jessup, Maryland, at the home of her niece.
Mrs. Samuel attended Haywood School in Moncure, NC, and Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC. She attended Winston-Salem Teachers College, graduating in 1947, and received the Master of Elementary Education from New York University. She returned to Horton High School to live her dream as an educator. Mrs. Samuels was teaching at Horton Middle School in Pittsboro, NC at the time of her retirement.
Delois was married to Rev. Charles Wesley Samuels, pastor of Liberty Chapel Church in Moncure, NC, who predeceased her in 1986.
She loved to travel, read, sew and craft in her spare time. She was a dedicated teacher and a devoted sister, aunt, and friend.
Mrs. Samuels was preceded in death by her beloved husband Reverend Charles Wesley Samuels, her brother-in-law, James A. Patterson, her brother-in-law Hosea J. Phillips, her sister, Lillian J. Phillips, and her sister, Margie J. Patterson.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one niece Jennifer P. Washington (Maxwell) of Jessup, Maryland, one great-niece Kelley M. Lockard of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and a host of family, friends, and former students.
