Ms. Debra Douglas Pearson, age 70 of Lillington NC transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC.
Debra Ann Douglas Pearson was born to the late Willie Douglas, Bernice Buie Amerson & Murreace Amerson on February 13, 1951, in Harnett County. She transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Debra was fondly called Doll. She loved making people laugh, cry, and sharing the good news. She had a way of lifting people spirits when they are feeling down. Debra had a contagious smile that filled a room. She believed in singing (making a joyful noise- no matter how loud and off key). She reminded anyone who will listen that she was like Deborah in the Bible (the prophetess and a great judge).
Debra attended Harnett County schools and graduated in 1969 from Benhaven High School. She furthered her education by attending CCCC. She married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Pearson and they remained friends when their marriage ended. Debra often joked with Cousin Callie that “she was going to stay Saved”.
She worked in several companies and retired from Magneti Marelli. She loved working and her best hobby was “running her mouth.” Coworkers will attest that Debra brought joy and laugher all through the day.
Debra enjoyed traveling and attending worship service at the Word Church. Her main hobby has been serving the Lord. Debra rarely cooked but she made the best “angel eggs” for family and friends.
The Word Church and its members provided Debra a source of strength, encouragement, and support for nearly three decades. Pastor Dorothy Cutler was much more than her pastor. Pastor Cutler was Debra’s compass (whether she obeyed or disobeyed). Through the Word Church, Debra was a flock leader. Debra was vigilant in maintaining contact with her flock-praying for them, encouraging them and being an example. Debra believed in “cutting through the chase.” She spoke her mind even when not asked for her opinion. Debra enjoyed being a prayer warrior and looked forward to the weekly prayer calls and the opportunity to give her testimony and remind others-to trust and depend on God. Until her last days, she exclaimed, “God will get the glory out of this.” When we think of all the ways we will remember Debra, - is the way she credits her brother, Tim when she ends each call by saying - “Too-da-loo”.
Debra learned from her mom that family is more than blood. Family is created through love.
Preceding her in death was her father, Willie Douglas, and her parents Murreace and Bernice Buie Amerson.
Her loved ones celebrating her life and legacy are her sisters, Ruth Amerson, and Naomi Robinson (Terry); brothers, Earl Douglas of Baltimore, Maryland (Evelyn), Quinton Amerson (Valjean), Timothy, Joseph, and Conrad Amerson; her best friend, sister, confidante, and buddy- Donna Kelly; two aunts, Juanita Douglas and Blendie Buie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, who will miss Debra including her special niece, Tonya Sellers.
