David Stewart Obituary

David “Dave” Lee Stewart departed this earthly life into eternal rest on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in Indio, California at the age of 71.

David Lee Stewart was born to the late Robert and Margaret H. Stewart in Sanford, NC, on September 6, 1950.  During his earlier years, he attended Blandonia Presbyterian Church USA in Sanford, NC.  He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Daisy Thompson Stewert of Sanford, NC.

David graduated from W.B. Wicker High School with the class of 1968 in Sanford, NC.  After graduation, David enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967.  He served 20 years serving his country, which he loved so much.  In 1987 Sergeant Major Stewert retired at his final duty station at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving father and husband; David was a Pastor for many years and was the founder of Victory Baptist in Ewa, Hawaii, where he loved working for the church.  His love of the Lord and helping others never went unnoticed.

David was a quiet-spoken, humble man, with a soulful spirit, preaching the gospel and saving souls; he loved life to the fullest.

David was an avid sports fan, especially for basketball.  He was an athletic director, coach, umpire, referee, and head of the local softball high school organization in his area.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Daisy Thompson Stewart; father, Mr.Robert Stewart: mother, Mrs. Margaret H. Stewart.

David leaves to honor and cherish his memories; daughter, Tonda R. Stewart-White of Indio, CA; son, David M. Stewart (Jeanette) of Rhome, TX; seven beautiful grandchildren, Jasmine, Jason, Javaan, Jaiyann, Daisy, David, Jaxon; one sister, Cornelia Allen (Ronnie) of Sanford, NC; one brother, Robert Newby of Sanford, NC; sisters-in-law, Francella T. Mitchell (Rev. David) of Fayetteville, NC; Shirley Thompson of Sanford, NC; brother-in-law, Thurman Palmer of Sanford, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from W.B. Wicker High School (Class of 1968).
