Obituary

Darius Caroll Johnson, age 68, departed this life on August 4, 2025, at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation in Sanford, North Carolina.

He was the fourth child born to the late Major and Willie Johnson on January 7, 1957.

Darius attended W.B. Wicker School and Sanford Central High School.

He was always known for lending a helping hand to others. His hobbies included working in the yard and with flowers. One of his greatest joys was fishing and he was good at it.

Darius accepted Christ into his life and became a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church and when he was able, he sung with the Jonesboro Male Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Major and Willie Johnson; and one nephew, Donovan Keith Johnson.

Darius is survived by his daughter, Lakia (Paul) Gilmore; one son, Darius Johnson; four grandchildren, Leah, Prince, Ean, and Kai; one brother, Julius Tyrone (Johnsie); two sisters, Courtney and Mellanie (Bishop Larry Ray); four nephews, Jarrod, Kevin, Antoine, and Larry; a special friend who brought  his favorite meal every Sunday, Ricky Lyles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
