Daphne Graaf

With profound sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Daphne Elaine Graaf, who entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2026, at the age of 66 in Miramar, Florida.

Born on December 12, 1959, in Sanford, North Carolina, at Lee County Hospital, Daphne was the beloved daughter of Giles Layton McNeill and Allene Clark McNeill. From an early age, she demonstrated remarkable intelligence, determination, and strength of character—qualities that would define her throughout her life.

One of Daphne’s proudest accomplishments came on June 15, 1978, when she graduated as Valedictorian of Western Harnett High School while raising a child as a single mother. Her perseverance, discipline, and commitment to education led her to earn a bachelor’s degree from Methodist College, setting an example of resilience and determination for everyone who knew her.

Daphne enjoyed a successful career in banking and financial services spanning more than twenty years. She served in leadership positions, including bank manager roles with Barnett Bank, Bank United, and Great Florida Bank. Later in life, she found great purpose in helping others as a representative for Disability Digest, where she worked tirelessly to assist individuals in obtaining and maintaining disability benefits. She genuinely cared about the people she served and took pride in helping others navigate life’s challenges.

Above all else, Daphne was devoted to her family. She shared 43 years of marriage with her beloved husband, George Anthony Graaf, and their love story began on December 31, 1980. Together they built a life centered on faith, commitment, friendship, and unconditional love.

Daphne was known for her generous spirit and compassionate heart. She would gladly give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She believed deeply in treating others with kindness and lived by the words of Luke 6:31:"Do to others as you would have them do to you."

Her favorite Scripture in the Bible: Psalms 91. This is where she drew her strength from.

Strong-willed and determined, Daphne never accepted defeat. Through numerous health challenges and personal hardships, she continued to fight with courage, grace, and unwavering faith. Her resilience inspired everyone around her and became one of the defining qualities of her life.

She possessed a creative soul and enjoyed making costume jewelry, arts and crafts, and expressing herself through her many talents. She also loved traveling and embraced every opportunity to see the world. Through the years, she visited Aruba, Hawaii, Maui, South Korea, Alaska, Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, St. Martin, Anguilla, Cuba, Colorado, New Orleans, and many other destinations. Each journey reflected her adventurous spirit and appreciation for God’s beautiful creation.

A devoted Christian, Daphne remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. While she attended Dade Christian Baptist Church in South Florida for several years, she most often nurtured her relationship with God through personal Bible study, prayer, and listening to gospel messages and music that strengthened her daily walk with Christ.

Though she had no grandchildren of her own, Daphne loved the children in her extended family as if they were her own. She delighted in celebrating birthdays (And she never forgot anyone’s Birthday), Christmases, and special moments with younger relatives, often showering them with gifts, encouragement, and affection. Few things brought her greater joy than seeing a child smile.

Daphne was preceded in death by her parents, Giles Layton McNeill and Allene Clark McNeill, and four of her beloved sisters, Rochelle Dantzker, Glenda Berryman, Cathy Parraway, and Cassandra Singleton. Though they have gone before her, we take comfort in knowing they have been joyfully reunited in the presence of the Lord.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 43 years, George Anthony Graaf; her loving children, Allena Lauran Graaf and Kamonte Lemik McNeill. Surviving siblings Priscilla Brower (Joseph), Everette McNeill (Danielle), Erwin McNeill (Cheryl), Pamela Sinclair (James). Surviving in laws Helen Wells, Johnny Wells, Gilbert Wells, Gerry Wells (Anne) and Edward Dest. Surviving aunts Doris Clark and Celia Clark. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness, generosity, and love.

Funeral services will be held in North Carolina, where Daphne will be laid to rest beside her mother and father, returning home to the place where her life's journey began.

While our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that her faith has been made whole and she now rests in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her legacy of perseverance, generosity, faith, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
