Obituary

Daphne McClinton Gee was born the third child of Willie McClinton (deceased) and Daisy Denny in Pittsboro, NC on August 9, 1959. From a very early age, her curiosity and adventurous spirit kept everyone on their toes, and she was a pioneer in integrating the Pittsboro Elementary School.

On a beautiful summer afternoon in 1975, Daphne met her husband, William Orlando Gee, of 46 years. She attended Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC, and later graduated from Plymouth High School in Plymouth, NC in 1977.

Daphne was a devoted military wife, first in the Air Force and then in the Army. From North Carolina to Nevada, to Colorado, to Georgia, back to North Carolina, and then to Maryland, she loved building communities. Daphne was well-known for her generosity. She was quick to say hello, give you a hug, or tell you exactly what you needed to hear. Her passion for life was matched by her passion for her family, travel, and food. A meal with Daphne was always about celebration…and really, really good food.

Daphne was the tooth fairy, the confidant, the flight attendant, the chauffeur, the cocktail waitress, the mother, the grandmother, the wife, the sister, the best auntie, the daughter, and a child of God. She was a member of Ashbury United Methodist Church in Frederick, MD for many years; it was her faith and spirit that carried her through two years of chronic health issues.

The Lord called Daphne home on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 62, where she was surrounded by her husband, children, grandson, daughter-in-law, and closest friends. Daphne was preceded in death by Willie McClinton and Robert Louis Denny.

She is survived by: her mother, Daisy Denny; her husband, William Orlando Gee; her children: Jasmine Yolunda Gee, Jason Orlando Gee, and Tiffany LeVita Gee; her siblings: Corledia M. Burnette, Willie McClinton, Jr., Charell M. Harper, and Chiquita Denny Farrar; her grandsons, Asa Gee, Jasir Dotson-Gee, Austin Vaughn, and Eliott Vasquez; and her granddaughters, Kayla Vaughn and Jazmine Crummel. Daphne was loved and will be missed by her nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Her family also acknowledges Angela Gee, daughter-in-law and angel on earth, who ensured Daphne always had the best care at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

As we call her home, Daphne will be surrounded by generations of love, family, and everyone who came before her.
