Clyde Thompson, age 82 of 315 Atkins Road, Cameron, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation, Carthage, NC.

The Obituary

When Peace like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll,

Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say

“It is well, it is well with my soul”

Clyde Thompson, son of the late George and Cora Thompson was born in Moore County, North Carolina on September 14, 1937.  He departed this life on July 18, 2020 at Peak Resource/Pinelake Nursing Center in Carthage, North Carolina.

Clyde graduated from Pinckney High School and enlisted in the United States Army, after an honorable discharge, in 1968, he secured employment with the New Jersey Department of Correction and retired as a Senior Corrections Officer in 1995.  He returned to his hometown of Cameron, NC, to enjoy his years of retirement; golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Clyde was united into Holy Matrimony to Sandra Sellars, and to this union, 1 son, Michael Thompson was born.  

Clyde was a faithful and dedicated member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cameron, NC.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers – John, George, James, Luke and Frank, and 2 Sisters – Janie and Sadie.  He leaves to cherish his memories:  1 son, Michael Thompson, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, 1 sister – Margaret Roberts, of Vass, NC, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

COME WITH ME

God saw that you were getting tired, a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around you and whispered

“Come with me.”  With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away, although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.   Each time we see your picture, you seem to smile and say, “Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping, we’ll meet again someday.
