Claretta (McIver) McMillan

Claretta McMillan, age 90 of 702 West McIntosh Street, Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Keller's Oak Haven Retirement Home, Sanford, NC.

Claretta McIver McMillan, daughter of the late John and Mary McIver was born March 29, 1930 in Lee County, North Carolina. She departed this life peacefully on November 3, 2020 at Keller’s Oak Haven Retirement Home in Sanford, NC.

She attended Lee County High School and spent many years living and working in New Jersey. Upon returning to Sanford, she joined First Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the Lillie Akin Senior Missionary Circle. She was a faithful member until she was no longer able to attend due to health reasons.  “Aunt Claretta” as she was affectionately known, loved life and loved to laugh. She always had a funny story to tell. She loved her family and was always glad for visits. Her favorite saying was “It’s a beautiful thing!” and she always had a purse full of butterscotch candy.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Isabelle Moffitt, Mary Alice McLean and Margaret Phillips, and brothers Joe, John and Philmore McIver.  

She leaves to mourn: one son, Charlie Jones of Sanford, North Carolina; one brother, James McIver (Ernestine) also of Sanford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
