Mr. Clarence Peoples, Jr. age 68 of 512 Reynolds Ave., Durham, NC passed on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Duke Hospital, Durham, NC.

Clarence 'Dick' Peoples, Jr., son of the late Clarence Peoples, Sr and Christine Watson Peoples was born November 8, 1950 in Bronx, New York. He departed his life suddenly and unexpected on Wednesday October 2, 2019 at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

Clarence graduated in 1969 from Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC., and attended Central Carolina Technical Institute in Sanford, NC graduating in 1971 with an associates degree in Industrial Maintenance.

He worked for several local companies as an electrical apprentice before obtaining his electrical license in 1985 and starting his own business.

Clarence was the owner of Clarence Peoples Electric Service, Inc and did numerous residential and construction installations and repairs around Durham, Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, NC.

He began working at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for the Physical Plant in 1971 as an electrician and retired after 31 years in December 2002 as supervisor over the maintenance department for student housing.

At an early age, Clarence joined Union Grove AME Zion Church.  He was a member of the Trustee Board, Union Grove Combined Choir, and the Male Chorus and he took joy, pride and pleasure in singing with the groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Christine, brother Rob and sons Andre (1975) and Derrick (2017).

He married  the love of his life and high school sweetheart Brenda on September 18, 1971 and to this union two sons were born - Andre and Derrick. Clarence and Brenda enjoyed 48 wonderful and blessed years together . They loved to travel with family and friends and recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas. They truly loved and cared for each other.

Clarence was a good man and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed all sports and played baseball and football in high school and continued playing baseball for neighborhood teams for several years. He was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan (Go Heels!) and enjoyed watching their games on television and attending games whenever he could..

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife Brenda, grandchildren Jasmine and Derrick Jr (DJ), daughter-in-law Vanessa, sister Enna Cheek (Dennis), brothers David (Adrienne) and Michael (Tuwana),  uncle Eunice Peoples, Jr., aunt Mrs, Elizabeth Reaves, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends George and Elaine Brim.
