Ms. Cathleen Blanche (Phillips) Hooper, age 96, of Sanford, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at her residence.

Life Reflections

On the evening of October 7, 2025, God called Cathleen Blanche Hooper of 1470 Farrell Rd in the Osgood Community of Sanford home to Glory. Cathleen Hooper, daughter of Elgen Phillips and Nanny Young of Pulaski, Virginia was born June the 21, 1929, one child of three kids. Pulaski was where she grew up and went to school.

Later in life as a grown woman she moved to North Carolina and married Sandy J. Hooper. She worked at Koury Company for many years. Cathleen gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke Holiness Church where she was a faithful member along with her husband, Sandy Hooper. As everyone knows Mrs. Cathleen was a Great Woman of God. Wherever she went she was always recognized by others for her loving kind word “baby”. Even in her later days she would still give God praise.

Cathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Elgen Phillips and Nanny Young; one sister, Ermie Smith; her husband, Sandy Hooper; sons, George Saunders and Dennis "June Bug" Saunders.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories and Godly ways; six children, Darrell Saunders of the home, Doug Saunders of Chapel Hill, Daniel Saunders (Donna) of Wood Bine, Kentucky, Doremus “Tyke” Saunders of Germany, Jerald Saunders of Raleigh, NC, and Dellaresse Dixon (Kenny) of Erwin, NC; two siblings, Alcester Cockeran of Pulaski, Virginia and Robert “Bobby” Smith of Fayetteville, NC, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
