Catherine (Foust) Lane

Ms. Catherine (Foust) Lane, age 89 of Carrboro, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

On July 21, 2024, God saw Catherine “Cat” was getting tired, so he put his arm around her and whispered, come unto me and I will give you rest.

On December 12, 1934 in Randolph County, Catherine Foust Lane was born to the late Melvin and Lillian Foust.

Catherine was educated at Orange County Training School and graduated from Lincoln High School, Chapel Hill, NC in 1954. She furthered her education by receiving a certification to become a CNA.

Catherine worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 35 years. She began work in the Housekeeping Dept. then later transferred to the Dept. of Laboratory Animal Medicine as an Animal Lab Technician until her retirement.

After retiring from the University, Catherine was employed with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools as a bus monitor for 20 years.

At an early age, Catherine was raised in the church and was a member of Church of God of Christian Faith. As an adult, she later joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.R. Burt. Catherine loved God and was very committed to reading her Bible every day.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lillian Foust; one sister, Dorothy F. Carver, and one son, Donald Carey Lane.

Her memory and love will always be cherished by her daughter, Angelia Valvonda Lane of the home; a loving and devoted niece, Teresa Fearrington; one sister-in-law, Dazzie Lane; two devoted cousins, Mark and Stanley Foushee; a close friend, Julie Robinson; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
