In Loving Memory of Carl McCall
July 17, 1942 – November 07, 2025
Carl McCall, a man of quiet strength and enduring dedication, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 17, 1942, Carl lived a life marked by hard work, craftsmanship, and unwavering love for his family. Although originally from South Carolina, he eventually migrated to North Carolina. He spent time traveling for work, until retiring from the David Allen company after 20 years.
Carl often spent his free time being of service to others, as this was his common love language. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, like a good western movie on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, never missing a milestone in their lives. A master of masonry, Carl’s hands shaped more than stone—they built foundations for homes, communities, and generations. His work ethic was unmatched, his talents many, and his pride in a job well done was evident in everything he touched. Whether laying brick or offering wisdom, Carl gave his all. He is remembered by quotes such as "you gotta look at your problems like a tree, the only way to kill a tree is to kill its roots" and "never allow your emotions to overpower your ability to think".
He was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Walter McCall, his three siblings and a special friend, Libby Kersey.
He leaves behind a legacy carried forward by his eight children, Son, Kendall (Mildred) son, Derrick, son Chip (Valerie) daughter, Lettice, daughter Cierra son, Linden (Monica) son, Carlton's daughter, Elizabeth; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Each of them bears the imprint of his values: resilience, humility, and the importance of family. He made lasting friendships with Nancy and Mike Humphrey, Andre Kelly, and Ms. Tina. Carl’s presence was a steady anchor, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Though he has laid down his tools, the structures he built—both physical and emotional—will stand for years to come. His memory will live on in the laughter of his descendants, the stories told around dinner tables, and the enduring strength of the family he helped. Rest well, Carl. Your work here is done, but your legacy endures.
