Calvin Watson, Sr.

Mr. Calvin Watson, Sr., age 73, of Chapel Hill, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

Calvin “Buster” Watson, Sr. was born on March 4, 1952 in Chapel Hill, NC. Born and raised a Tarheel fan, he graduated from Chapel Hill High School. He served in the US Air Force as a Senior Airman for 4 years. He worked at American Stone Company for 36 years and then retired. He married the love of his life, Rita Jean Watson, on June 20, 1981.

He was preceded in death by her on April 29, 2022. They are together AGAIN. He is also preceded in death by his parents Ezekiel Watson and Esther Davis, a grandson, Rodney Torain, Jr., a cousin, Adrian Jackson and a son-in-law, Tyree Manuel.

Calvin is survived by his three children, Deanne Jackson, Regina Brown, and Calvin Watson, Jr. (his wife Denise); a godson, Andre Degraffenried; nine grandchildren – Alycia Jackson, Tamin Brown, Milek Jackson, Tyree Manuel, II, Kiara Manuel, PaQuez Goodman, Aric and Brian Watson (twins), and Elise Watson; three great grandchildren, Rodney Fountain, Truce A’Hari-Jean Brown, Milek Rodney Sincere Jackson and Serenity Pompeii Nyurii Jackson; a baby brother, Howard Watson; (Jennifer and Jessica) a beloved aunt, Hazel Jackson; an adored cousin, Stacy Jackson; a great cousin Janeziah Watson, and a slew of other family and friends.

He was considered family and loved dearly by Sandra Wilcox, Peter Conway, Adelaide Wilcox King, Melissa and Brett Bond, Reid and Suzanne Wilcox, as well as Donald Liner and Kitty Tulloch.

Calvin, Big Calvin, Daddy, Grandpa will forever be loved and NEVER forgotten.
