Bobby Williams Obituary

Mr. Bobby Lee Williams, age 80, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at his residence.

The Obituary

Bobby Lee Williams also known as “The world’s most renowned Silver Bullet” or “The Bullet”, to anyone over 50 years old was born to Leola Battle Williams and Dick Williams. He was the oldest child of eight brothers and sisters: Josephine (deceased), George (deceased), John (deceased), Joe, Savannah (deceased) Ronny and Donny (deceased). 

Bobby had six children: his first wife Anne Williamson had three children, Terry, Thersa, and Tryone. Stacey Bradshaw was his fourth child. He and his second wife Margaret “Peggy” Bailey-Williams were married 57 years; they had two children, April Isabell and Candice Bailey. 

Bobby Lee will always be infamous for being the first Plainfield resident shot during the 1967 protests, leading to the 1967 Plainfield Riots.  Bobby lived in Plainfield with his wife Peggy until 2008. He earned his G.E.D. and went on to earn an associate degree in auto management from Rutgers University. 

Bobby worked many years learning different crafts.  He worked at Baker & Taylor Book Depository for 10 years and opened his own auto repair shop (twice), finally retiring after working for Walmart in South Plainfield as the Auto Repair Department Manager.  Bobby and Peggy loved to travel. They traveled back and forth across the United States multiple times with their twin niece, Melissa and nephew, Michael.

In 2008, Bobby and Peggy moved to Sanford North Carolina and joined Robinson Chapel A.M.E Zion. He was elected Vice President and later President of the Robinson Chapel Deacon Board. After five years Bob and Peggy joined Marsh Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church where Bobby served as the Preacher’s Steward for three years before finally joining Mt Calvary Baptist Church.

Bobby is survived by his wife, six children, two brothers, his godson Michael, his Uncle Howard, his Aunt Ruby, and Aunt Helen, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
