Blonzie Lee (McLean) Waddell

Mrs. Blonzie Lee Waddell, age 94, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the Carrolton of Nash Nursing Home. 

The Obituary

Blonzie Lee McLean Waddell was born on July 24, 1930, in Lee County, NC to the late George Harrison and Mildred McLean. She had four siblings, Harrison Jr. (deceased), Calvin (deceased), Ernestine (deceased) and a very close sister, Mildred Ann Tyson (William).

Blonzie graduated from W.B. Wicker School and DeShazor's Beauty College.

She loved her Lord, Blandonia Presbyterian Church, and her family. She was a deacon in the church, administrator of the childcare center, and participated in other activities. Her career also included personnel director at Sanford Tobacco Company and director of a rest home.

Blonzie enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling (especially to the beach) and entertaining her family and friends.

In addition to her sister to mourn her demise is her extensive family. She leaves her devoted husband of 74 years, Beady Waddell, Jr.; two daughters, Belinda and Annie; four sons, Steve (Theresa), Glenn (Angela), Beady III (Valerie), and Roderick (Alma). She also leaves eighteen grandchildren, and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, other relatives, and friends.
