Mr. Billy Ray Jones, age 61 of Siler City NC transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, September 23, 2022.
Billy Ray Jones was born on January 19, 1961, in Duplin County, NC to the late James Frank Jones, Sr. and Gracie Lee Atkinson Jones. He peacefully answered the Master’s call from labor to reward on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Genesis Rehabilitation Center, Siler City, NC. Knowing that God never makes a mistake, we humbly submit to His will.
After the family moved to Willard, North Carolina, Bill attended the public schools of Pender County. He graduated from Pender High School in 1979. He was reared in a loving family. Early in life, Bill accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a dedicated member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon in 1997. He loved his church and was a faithful deacon as long as his health permitted him to attend.
He moved to Sanford, NC in 1980 where he met his wife, Mallie Annette Cotten. They were united in holy matrimony on October 10, 1992. They made their home in Sanford for nearly 40 years. Bill was a hard-working man. He worked at Sharon Harris Nuclear Plant for 4 years and 35 years in the brick industry. Lastly, he loved his job of collecting junk. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and grilling.
Bill (Uncle Bull) was dependable, strong-willed, supportive, caring, and so funny. He had a way of just looking at you and making you laugh. He loved and encouraged all his family and friends. He looked for the good in every person that he met and made people feel like they were the most special person in the world to him. While at Genesis, he often talked with the residents about God and started a small bible study class.
Preceding in death were his parents, James Frank Jones, Sr. and Gracie Lee Atkinson Jones ,and one step-brother, Wardell Johnson.
