Bettie Lou Davis

Ms. Bettie Lou Davis, age 90, of Sanford, NC transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center in Sanford, NC.

Ms. Bettie Lou Davis was born on July 10, 1935, in Harnett County, NC. She was child number six of eleven children born to the late Mr. Tom and Mrs. Esther Davis.

Bettie attended Ridgeway Elementary School and graduated from W.B. Wicker High School in 1955.  Bettie grew up attending Love Grove AME Zion church along with the rest of her family.

After graduation, Bettie moved to New York where she lived and worked for many years.  She moved back to the family home in 1999.

Coming back to NC, she rejoined Love Grove AME Zion Church. As a member, she sang in the Heavenly Voice Choir and the Mass Choir. She was also a Stewardess, Missionary, Life Member, Lay Council Member, and a Kitchen Committee member.

Bettie loved cooking and baking. She also loved feeding people. When you visited her, she always had something for you to eat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers – Johnny Davis, Thomas Davis Jr, and Aubrey Davis and three sisters – Annie Watson, Verlene Burks, and Barbara Davis Simon.

Bettie leaves to cherish her precious memories four brothers – Ellis Davis, Gerard Davis (Peggy), Waymon Davis (Brenda) all of Sanford NC and Norman Davis (Eulah) of Winston Salem NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
