Bessie Alston Obituary

Mrs. Bessie Lucille (McIver) Alston, age 78, of Eden, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Obituary

Mrs. Bessie L. Alston was born December 9, 1946, to Albert McIver and Maxine M. McIver in North Carolina.

Bessie graduated from J.S. Water High School on June 7, 1965, in Goldston, NC.

Bessie married Willie Alston in Florence, SC on April 22, 1976, and they later moved to Milwaukee, WI. She later received her Doctorate in Theology in 2004 from Agape Ministries.

She accepted Christ in her life many years ago and joined Holy Sanctuary C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor Lewis. Bessie was very active in church, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and counseled family and friends. She later became Mother Bessie Alston. Alongside her husband, they opened a church named the Wells of Salvation Church of God In Christ. She loved serving her community and being with her church family.

Bessie was C.N.A. and traveled throughout Milwaukee County doing homecare. She truly loved caring for others just as well as her own family. She loved her grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and working outside with her flowers and plants; as well as traveling and just riding by the lake to talk and pray with the Lord. She loved to read her Bible.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Albert and Maxine McIver; five brothers, Richard Allen McIver, Raeford Levon McIver, Albert Lee McIver, Herbert Thomas McIver, and Robert William McIver.

Bessie Alston is survived by her husband, Willie Alston of Eden, NC; children, Pamela Farsee of Milwaukee, WI, Vincent Burnette of Milwaukee, WI, Kimberly Burnette of Milwaukee, WI, Nausie Nash of Milwaukee, WI; seventeen beautiful grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Wendy Patterson of NC and Anthony Alston of NC; two sisters, Zena Degraffenreidt and Omega Tyson; one brother, Jack McIver; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
