Mrs. Audrey Denise Flack Hancock lovingly known as “Gussie Mae” daughter of the late Margaret Heck Flack and the late Augusta Flack. She was born on June 26, 1954 in Burnsville, NC. She transitioned into everlasting rest on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Her early years were spent growing up in Sanford, NC with her nurturing parents, loving grandparents, Lena Mae and Gurley Heck; aunts and uncles, and siblings. She was educated at W.B. Wicker High School in Lee County, NC. Later in life she completed Early Childhood Education programs, Child Development course and CPR and First Aid. With those achievements she began her twenty plus years in childcare.
Audrey met her lifelong partner and husband Armunda. She was blessed to mother three sons and one daughter whom she loved and encouraged to become amiable, considerate, and authentic. She was a very proud, loving, and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.
Gussie was truly the life of the party. She encouraged everyone to be the life of the party with her signature dance. Her grandkids meant the world to her. Along the way she became the mother to many of her children’s friends and others. Sometimes she would call people just to check on them and send her love, that’s what we will miss the most about her and her famous home cooked meals.
