Audrey (Petty) Dowdy was born February 26,1960 in Sanford, North Carolina to Marie Byers and Johnny Petty Sr. She attended the public schools of Lee County, NC.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Anyone that knew her knew that she was one of a kind. She could laugh with you, cry with you and fuss you out, all at the same time. And if you had love for her then you understood her love language.

Audrey is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Lucille Minter and Cora Petty; her grandfathers, Audrey Jutt Byers and Robert Petty; one aunt, Sandra Dorsett (Everette), and three uncles Audrey Byers, Ronnie Byers, and Monroe Petty.

She leaves to cherish and honor her memory, her husband, Kenneth Dowdy; her children, Kimethia McIver, Derrick McIver (Angela); grandchildren, Kiera, Jasmine, Derrius, Jayla, Jahara, Derykah, Darian, Derrick Jr., Billy, Brittany; great grandchildren, Zoey, Dre, Kinsley, Malani; three sisters, Della Hendon (Philip) of Spring Lake, NC, Sheron McIver (Jimmie) of Sanford, NC, Tushanda Turner of Knightdale, NC; two brothers, Twin Johnny Petty Jr. (Earenestine) of Waynesboro, GA, Boyd Judd of Sanford, NC; two aunts, Josephine Womack and Darlene Horton (Gene); three uncles, James Minter (Patricia), Jimmie Petty (Martha), and Anthony Edwards (Debra); one sister-in-law, Ruth McKoy (Raymond); one brother-in-law, John Dowdy; special friends, Stephaine McIver, Kathy McIver, Sandy Nickles, Georgia Brown, Ruth Viser, and Cheryl Spears; caregiver, Alisha Allen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whom she loved dearly.
