Mr. Arthur Stanley Frye Sr., age 70 of Vass NC transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, May 20, 2022, at FirstHealth-Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
THE OBITUARY
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day. II Timothy 4:7-8
ARTHUR STANLEY FRYE, SR. was born in Moore County, NC on December 15, 1951, to the late Alexander Frye and Margaret Frye Roberts. (* Arthur was destined to be unique as he was an identical twin*)
Arthur was educated within the Moore County School System, marking history as a 1970 graduate of the first integrated class at Union Pines High School.
He started his 46-year journey in Law Enforcement in 1976, receiving required certifications, that enabled him to become the first African American Detective with the Aberdeen Police Department. He later joined the Moore County Sheriff’s Department where he served in a variety of positions. It is without question that Arthur Frye was a trailblazer within the community. He retired in 2012, however in 2016 he came out of retirement to serve as the Chief of Police for the Moore County School System. * This position is 1 out of 2 agencies in the state that is operated by the Public School System of N.C. and Arthur’s diverse experience was needed. * “Chief Frye”, as he was affectionately called. was a devoted and dynamic leader and he served all of his positions with passion and integrity. Upon his retirement in December 2021, it was a bittersweet moment for those who worked with him.
Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and attended Frye’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He founded an organization called “The Brotherhood”, in an effort to embrace young black men within the community to live positive lives. He later joined Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a faithful deacon until his health declined.
Arthur’s love for God, Family, and Friends was demonstrated throughout his life. He was well known for his Bold and Direct demeanor and was respected for it. Arthur would always say
“If you don’t want to hear the truth… Don’t’ ask me!”
Arthur was preceded in death by his father and his Identical Twin brother – Arnold Frye.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia "Pat" Frye; three sons: Stanley (Misty), Alan, and Steven; one daughter, Monique Johnson; his mother, Margaret Frye Roberts; one sister, Margaret Frye Peterson; two brothers James Faulk (Jean) and Thomas Frye (Mary); one aunt, Katherine Stubbs; three sisters in law, Marlene Frye, Kathy Wall, and Phyllis Little; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
