Annie Mitchell Obituary

Mrs. Annie Lucille Mitchell, age 77 of Goldston, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 5,2024, at her residence.

On June 3, 1947, in Goldston, North Carolina, Annie Lucille Mitchell was born to Harold and Annie Mae Cotton. She was the second of seven children and quickly became the go to person
for the fashionista that she was.

Lucille, as she was affectionately known, grew up in Gulf, North Carolina, and was raised in Goldston, North Carolina. She often shared fond memories of the schoolhouse her father Harold
purchased and renovated into a lovely four-bedroom house for the family. It was in this home filled with love and laughter that Lucille and her siblings grew up. Growing up she took exquisite care to ensure everyone “had their hair done and looked pretty!” Her sisters believe she learned this skill from her mother, Annie Mae. She was a beautiful soul inside and out who took particular time and attention with fashion and style. Anyone who knew “Cille” knew that if she stepped out of her house her hair and makeup was done, outfit was sensational, and her shoes always matched.

Lucille committed her life to Jesus. She was baptized in His name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life, influencing her every step.

Lucille attended grade school in Goldston, North Carolina and began her professional life as a seamstress, a craft she approached with dedication and skill. Those days further cemented her love for all things beauty, elegance, and grace and gave her another chance to learn how to bring out the true beauty in the things and people around her.

In December 1964, Lucille met the love of her life, Joe Levi Mitchell. Joe asked for her hand in marriage as a Christmas gift to himself, soon after, they were married in Goldston, North Carolina. Their union was blessed with three children, Joanna Artis, Joe Mitchell Jr., and Thomas Mitchell. Together, they built a life grounded in love and faith, providing a nurturing and supportive environment for their family.

Lucille was known for her unwavering faith, her sweet spirit, and her loving heart. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived her life as a testament to her faith, and her kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Annie "Lucille" Mitchell, a beacon of grace and elegance, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, style, and unforgettable memories. Known for her vibrant
personality and impeccable fashion sense, Lucille was always dressed to the nines, embodying a spirit that was as radiant as her wardrobe. She brought joy and warmth to everyone she met, filled every room with laughter and a sense of sophistication. Her passion for life and unwavering strength inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mrs. Annie Lucille Mitchell leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Joe Levi Mitchell, Sr.; children, Joanna (Anil) Artis, Joe Mitchell Jr., and Thomas Mitchell; six
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Her family and friends will forever remember Lucille as a beacon of love and light, a woman whose life was a true reflection of her devotion to Christ. While we mourn her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she is at peace with her Savior.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
