Mrs. Annie Jane Griffin, age 95, of Sanford, NC entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her residence.
The Obituary
Annie Jane McKoy was born on April 16, 1929, to the Late George and Emma J. Cousar-Mckoy. Annie was one of 10 Children.
She grew up in the rural area of Jonesboro, NC where her and her siblings along with their parents worked with the local farmers. She attended school in the Lee Co school system until the sixth grade; her family needed her more.
Annie worked in Manufacturing (Federal Spinning and Trion). She also worked part-time for the Mayor of Sanford!
Annie was married to the late Hubert Griffin and through this union twelve children were birth. She was known as Momma, Grama, Aunt Annie and Mrs. Annie Jane. She raised numerous grandchildren, and at the tender age of 95 she was still assisting in raising great grands. She will truly be missed by her great grands/great great-grand (Amani, Na’Deja and Shamekia), they were her sidekicks. Annie loved to babysit her grands, she was an avid cook, well-known for her biscuits, cornbread and most of all, red velvet cake. She was active until the Lord called her Home! She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and so much more.
Annie attended New Generation (until Covid) under the leadership of Pastor Phillip Watson.
Annie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Mckoy; husband, Hubert Griffin; children, Hubert Jr, Julis, Lucille, Rebecca, Mattie, and Terry Griffin; four grandchildren; four great grands, and nine siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Raymond (Ruth) Mckoy, Melvin, and David Griffin; three daughters, Anniebell (Thurman) Johnson, Carolyn, and Brenda Griffin; one son-in-law, Lewis Covington; one daughter-in-law, Joan Griffin; one special daughter, Betty M. Lindsey; thirty-five grandchildren; seventy-seven great grandchildren; and thirty-seven great-great-grandchildren, a whopping total of one hundred forty-nine; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Annie Jane birthed a Legacy.
The family will accept visitors between 12 noon and 8pm at 1306 Rosemary Street, Sanford, NC, 27330
