The Obituary
On Sunday July 21, 2024, God dispatched angels to Central Carolina Hospital to escort his daughter, Ms. Anita Louise (Murchison) McLean, affectionately known as “Sister" home.
On July 10, 1943, in Sanford, NC, Anita Louise Murchison was born to the late Louise Murchison and Harrison McLean. She was the oldest of four children.
Anita attended New Hope Elementary, and W.B. Wicker Schools. In her earlier years, the family attended Alston Chapel Church in Haw Branch. She was employed with Webster's Poultry, Lane Poultry, and later named Townsend Poultry for thirty-five years. Anita always stood in the position of a leader, having to leave school to care for her siblings and cousins, she was their protector, chef, and disciplinarian.
Anita had a witty personality. She always had an answer for you, with love, sarcasm, much wisdom, and corrections while making you laugh. Anita adored family and friends and loved to have a good time. To her there was nothing better than a good game of spade and cold diet mountain dew, that was her strong drink.
One of her favorite gospel singers was the late Lee Williams of the Spiritual QC's. She was elated to met him and was photographer with him on one of her birthdays at a concert in Fayetteville, NC.
Anita was proceeded in death by one son, James Edward Otis McNeill.
Anita leaves cherished memories to her children, Johnny McNeill (Denise) and Rosezetta Steadman; a special daughter, Pearline Edwards, and son, Joe Smith Jr; ten grandchildren, Anita Jones, Chiqutia Chalhoun, Belinda Sims, Felicia McNeill, Otis Steadman Jr., Gerard Osborne, Latoya Osborne, Niquan Barkley, and James Jackson that she raised as her own. Her greatest joy came in the form of her twenty great-grandchildren, Aaron, Aaryanna, Johnathan, Joshua, Shakiyiah, Lyric, Daisean, Kayden, Ameyah, Brianica, Nyla, Ariana, Aliyah, Bryce, Avelyn, Taye, Jaymz, Marcus, DeVonte, and DaQuarius. Later added to her legacy were four great-great grandchildren, X’Zavion, Amunique, Serenity, and Khilay. To which she said, “I have a lot of grandchildren and there's nothing wrong with that". She also leaves a brother and sister, George Morris and Theresa Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Family will be receiving visitors at 531 Beulah Brown Rd, Sanford, NC.
