Mr. Ander "Andy" Thomas Nelson, Jr., age 45 of Bahama, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
Ander Thomas Nelson, Jr., affectionately known as "Andy" was born on December 14, 1975, to Catherine Palmer Nelson and Ander Thomas Nelson Sr. He departed this life on Saturday, April 10 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham North Carolina. Andy was born and raised in Lee County and attended Lee County Elementary school with his sister Daphne Sibyl Johnson who preceded him in death.
Andy was baptized at Fair Promise AME Zion Church in Sanford, North Carolina at an early age where he was a faithful member along with his parents and beloved sister, Daphne. Andy completed his high school education at Northern High School in Durham, North Carolina. He received a certification in Carpentry from Cabarrus Community College. He was the owner and founder of ATN Nelson's Services where he worked in construction and pride himself in renewing and restoring historic properties.
Andy reminisced often at being from Generation X where he could play outside until dark and play freely and take walks with friends without worries of being taken or harmed. He valued his childhood memories and love to hear stories of his family's history. Andy has a happy-go-lucky, playful, and comical personality. He never met a stranger and loved to laugh and share a good joke.
Andy leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Catherine Palmer Nelson, his father Ander Thomas Nelson Sr. (Rebecca). Stepsisters; Belinda Mays and Roshanda McCrimmon. Maternal aunties; Linda M. Palmer, Janice Nobles, and Uncles Melvin Palmer (Sharda). Paternal Aunties; Evelyn McLeod, Loretta Armstrong, Theresa Baker, and Uncle Charles Nelson. A host of cousins and friends.
