Aluther Allen

Mr. Aluther Allen, age 81, formerly of Chatham County, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 18, 2021, in Brooklyn, New York.

Aluther Allen, also known to his friends as “Big Luke” was born in Chatham County, N.C. on May 18, 1939. He resided in Brooklyn, NY. Aluther’s sunset was Saturday, April 18, 2021, at the age of 80.

Aluther Allen joins his beloved mother Bernice Allen-Martin and Preston Allen. Aluther was employed as a truck driver for over 50 years. He was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Brooklyn, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the choir.   

Aluther Allen is preceded in death by Bernice Allen-Martin, Preston Allen, Jane Allen, Laura Ann Martin, and Edward Martin all from Sanford, N.C.

Aluther Allen was a kind and compassionate man, never had a harsh word for anyone, he was selfless and giving. He had a friendly and inviting smile, he had a grand laugh which immediately identified him. Aluther Allen was a true gentle giant never upset, always forgiving, and never held a grudge.

Aluther leaves behind his beloved wife of over 50 years Gennell Caviness-Allen and two brothers, James D. Allen and George L. Martin, and two sisters, Eva Martin and Julia B. Smith.

He will be laid to rest at his desired location, beside his mother at Lee Memory Gardens 2600 Hawkins Ave. Sanford N.C. 27330
