Alice “Toby” Rose Wilkerson Brower
February 6, 1933 – January 23, 2026

Alice “Toby” Rose Wilkerson Brower, daughter of the late James and Rosa Wilkerson, was born on February 6, 1933. On the morning of January 23, 2026, an angel quietly slipped into her room and carried away our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and aunt.

Alice grew up in Harnett County, North Carolina, where she attended Johnsonville School and faithfully served as secretary of the PTA. At an early age, she confessed her faith in Christ and united with Spout Springs Presbyterian Church. Alice remained a devoted member throughout her life, serving as an adult Sunday School teacher, an active member of the Presbyterian Women, an Elder, and a member of the Senior Choir.

She also used her God-given talents as the church seamstress, lovingly creating angel costumes, children’s robes, made wedding dresses for her granddaughters and bridesmaids dresses for many of local weddings. Not only could she make clothing by a pattern but if you bought something and didn't like the way it fit, she was the go-to person for alterations.

Known throughout the community as an exceptional seamstress, Alice blessed many with her skill and generosity. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed completing word search puzzles and took great joy in baking pound cakes for her great-grandchildren on their birthdays.

Alice was a dedicated and hardworking woman, she watched her grandkids, great grands so their parents could work. She was employed during her lifetime with Creech Cleaners, Koury Company, and Stanadyne.  

She will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and unending love for her family. Alice leaves behind a legacy of compassion, wisdom, and dedication that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Huland Brower; her siblings, James T. Wilkerson, Sarah A. Hailey, Maggie Mae Hailey, and Mary W. McAden; her great great-granddaughter, Parish Wright; and her grandson, Mario Harrison.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Joseph Wayne Brower (Priscilla) of Cameron, North Carolina; one special nephew, George Hailey, whom she raised; three granddaughters, Jozetta Scott (Jason), Felicia Wright (Byron), and LaToya Harrison; six great grandchildren, Deedra Wright, Jason Scott II, Shaniquah Reyes (Sal), Kaosha Scott, Quameisha Wright, and Quomel Scott; ten great-great grandchildren, Da’Myia Page, Sariyah Scott, Byron McKoy Jr., Cali Wright, Sincere Taylor, Quomel Scott II, Nyomi Wright, Major Wright, Luna Reyes, and Juan Reyes; one bonus grandson, Cleveland Morrison III; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a loving community of friends who will miss her dearly.
