Mr. Alfred Leroy Covington, age 79, of Windsor, CT, formally of Sanford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, NC.
Alfred Leroy Covington was born June 8, 1944, to the late Charles Albert Covington and Nannie Ellerby Covington in Lee County N.C. He was the second oldest of six children. He transitioned to his heavenly home on August 13, 2023, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford N.C.
Alfred received his early education at W.B. Wicker school and then worked for Roberts company in Sanford, NC. In 1971, he relocated to Hartford CT. Shortly after relocating, he began a career at Connecticut natural gas where he retired after 32 years.
Alfred enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Albert Covington and Nannie Ellerby Covington; wife, Pamela Ann Covington; sister, Minister Naomi Harris; brother-in-law, James Thomas; sister In-law, Gwendolyn Jones; and brother In-laws, Marvin Woods and Howard Simms.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories two children, Jeff Covington Sr. (Teresa) of Sanford, NC and Tahaira Nicolas (Jean-Claude) of Windsor C.T.; four grandchildren: Raquel Swann (Brian Sr.) of New Hill, NC, Jeffrey Covington Jr. of Sanford NC, Cory Cicero and Zoe Nicolas of Windsor, CT; one great-grandchild, Brian Swann Jr. “BJ” of New Hill, NC; four siblings, Pastor Annie Glover (Melvin) of Siler City, NC, Irene Caldwell (Coley) of Sanford NC, Shirlene Thomas of New Hill, NC, Nannie Taylor (Harold) of Moncure, NC; mother-in-law, Cynthia Ross of Tuskegee, AL; three sister-in-laws, Gladys Simms of Hartford CT; Cynthia Forbes (Darryl) of Charlotte, NC; Veronica Baker of Tuskegee AL; four brother-in-laws: Derrick Harris, Willie Woods Jr. (Shanda) of Greensboro, NC; Douglas Woods Sr. (Monique) of Windsor CT; Hyzell Collins (Cindy) of Manchester, CT; one aunt, Mary Frances Quick (James) of Glenarden MD; two uncles, Herbert Covington (Beulah) of Hartford CT, Hubert Covington of Hartford, CT, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
