The Obituary
Alberta Quick McLean, born on March 24, 1938, in Sanford, North Carolina, transitioned to her eternal home on October 20, 2025. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
“Bert,” as she was affectionately known, lived life with joy and style. Her days were often filled with the simple pleasures of soap operas, crossword puzzles, gardening, sewing, and the peaceful ritual of reading her Bible with a warm cup of coffee in hand.
Her vibrant personality shone through in her signature red nails and lipstick, a touch of glamour that became her trademark. As the beloved neighborhood beautician, she lovingly styled the hair of local children for Easter.
Her voice added harmony to the church choir, where she sang with heart and devotion.
She brought beauty, warmth, and laughter to everyone around her — a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Blanche Quick; husband, Thomas Edward McLean; one daughter Linda, and five sisters, Rosa Lee, Mary Frances, El Nora, Johnsie Mae, and Silver Kay, and three brothers, John Anders, Preston James, and Fletcher Ray.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Franstine (Jeffrey) and Alvetta (DePaul); one brother, Nelson Eugene; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
