Obituary
Albert Lewis Cameron, born August 25, 1952, in Sanford, North Carolina, to Geneva Mildred Cameron and Ellis Lee Davis, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 24, 2025, surrounded by family. Raised in Johnsonville and educated in the Harnett County Schools' system, Albert carried with him a lively spirit and a heart big enough to embrace everyone he met.
In his early years, Albert moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he worked at a local mattress factory. It was there that fate introduced him to the love of his life, Florence Mallette. From the very beginning, their bond was unshakeable, and together they built a life that spanned an incredible 56 years. Albert later returned to North Carolina, continuing his hardworking legacy with Willamette Plywood Co., where he dedicated 35 loyal years before retiring.
Albert was known for many things—his humor, his generosity, and his unforgettable presence. He was a loving, joking soul whose favorite words were “fool”, “weak” or telling you that you “needed to get with the program,” becoming a signature trademark among family and friends. If Albert called you a fool or told you that you were weak, you knew without a doubt that you were loved. His laughter could fill a room, and his quick, playful jokes were often the highlight of any gathering. No matter the moment, Albert was the one to lift spirits, offer wisdom, or simply make someone’s day a little brighter.
Though he kept everyone laughing, Albert was deeply respected. He had a special soft spot for all his nieces and nephews, who adored him dearly and the love he gave so freely. At family functions, you could always find him behind the grill or behind a set of DJ speakers—cooking, playing music, and making memories. His joy came from bringing people together.
Albert also carried a quiet strength, most evident in the way he cared for his spouse. He was a devoted caregiver and protector, always putting her needs before his own, and loving her with a patience and tenderness that reflected the depth of his heart.
Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Cameron; two brothers, Laverne Davis and James Lee Cameron; stepfather, John Daniel Cameron; and one stepson, Jamie Mallette.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of the home, Florence Mallette; father, Ellis Davis of Sanford, NC; stepchildren, Mark Mallette (Nikki) of Cameron NC and Virginia Quillens of Fayetteville NC; ten siblings, Connell Brower; Catherine Cutler (Willie); Clarence Cameron; Merrendia Gilchrist (Garner); Carl Cameron; Monique Pratt (Anthony) all of Cameron, NC; Bernard Cameron (Cindy) of Moncure NC; Ellis Antonio (Venus) of Lillington NC; as well as Deborah Davis and Milton Davis of Sanford, NC.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his love, kindness, and his unforgettable way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and—of course—just a little bit like a “fool.”
Albert lived a life full of laughter, love, and loyalty. His presence was a gift, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
