Ms. Ailphronza Roberta McLean, age 97 of Sanford, NC transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, NC.

The Obituary

Mrs. Ailphonza Roberta McLean was born January 4, 1925, to the late Burl Dewer and the late Edith Massey Dewer in Lee County. She was called from labor to reward on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

"Bunk", as she was affectionately called in the community, was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She attended Lee County Training School.

Ailphronza was married to the late Robert Durham and to this union two daughters were born Brenda Lou and Hildred Remenda. Later in life, she was married to the late Willie McLean, and to this union, five children were born. Waylon (who preceded her in death) Gracen Lamont, Dorelene, Waymon Cubby, and Annette.

Ailphronza was a faithful member of Fair Promise A. M. E. Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board, and in the Chancel Choir and The Family in Christ Gospel Singers until her health began to fail.

She worked in several capacities in Sanford from housekeeper to the manufacturing industries. Ailphronza answered the call of our Heavenly Father at Central Carolina Hospital at 4:59 a.m.

Left to cherish her life are her children: Brenda Jones, Sanford NC, Hildred Williams, Goldston, NC, Gracen Donald, Waymon McLean, and Dorelene Durham all of Sanford NC and Annette Burgess (William) of Johnsonville SC; grandchildren, Andrea, Kelli, Shay Lynn, C.J., Nikesha, Nicole, DeAndrew, and Devon; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
