Willie Morrison Jr. Obituary

Willie Morrison Jr., age 70 of 140 Independence Way, Cameron, NC passed Saturday, March 16, 2019 at  VA Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC.

Willie Morrison Jr. was born September 2, 1948 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to the late Willie Morrison Sr. and Majesta Jordan Morrison. He spent his  childhood years helping his father with the farm work and being doted on by his mother.

After graduating high school, Willie was drafted into the U.S. Army and promptly sent to fight in the Vietnam War. During his tenure, he was promoted to Sergeant and received many service awards and honors. After serving his country, Willie moved to Dallas, TX and spent his working years as a long-distance truck driver. Upon retirement, he returned to the Johnsonville community and became a beloved and well-known figure. He joined Restoration Through Christ Ministries and was an active part of his church.

Family has always been very important to Willie. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to orchestrate the first ever Morrison-Arnold Family Reunion, held August 2018 in Nashville, Arkansas. Family members were brought together from coast to coast, many meeting for the very first time. Though sick from his illness, he worked tirelessly at the computer searching, researching and contacting long lost family. “Phoenix 2020”, the next chapter, will go on because of his tireless work. He will be there with us in spirit.

Willie was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Rhonda Morrison, Tyus Morrison (Tynika) and Sharkita Morrison of Cameron, NC; Claudia Shana Morrison of Oklahoma City, OK; Rolandria Baugus and Brandon Morrison of Dallas, TX; and Micheal Morrison of Pampa, TX; grandchildren: Jasmine, Ajane’, Tyliyah, Tya, TyAna, TyAsia, Mariah, Jamia, Breanna, Christian, Sutton and Sawyer; two great grandsons: Davonte’ and Kason; sisters: Irma D.
