Willie James Covington

Willie James Covington, age 75 of 1704 Carr Creek Dr., Sanford, NC passed on Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Willie James Covington passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 6, 2018.  He was born on May 13, 1943 to late Landon Covington and the late Larine Cole.

Mr. Willie Covington was a well-loved person.  He also was a great chess player that was his game; he had obtained several trophies in tournaments that were played.  He worked at Frank and Kelpy Wood Company for about 20 years in Lexington, NC. Mr. Willie was a member of Jehovah Jireh Community Outreach Ministry for 10 years, where Loretta Tolson his daughter was the pastor.  Mr. Covington was a faithful member always doing what he could to help in the ministry.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, late Hazel Quick and Betty Ann Covington; two brothers, the late Landon Covington, Jr. and Charles Edward Covington.

He leaves to cherish his memories six children: Loretta S. Tolson (Levern) of Sanford, NC, Everette L. Sellars (Wilma) of Siler City, NC, Curtis J. Sellars of Sanford, NC, Latrice Butler of Greenville, SC, Bernard Hollingsworth (Quennet) of Sanford, NC, and Timothy Covington of Jeffries, SC.; two sisters: Margret Murchison and Fannie Murphy (Frank); three brothers: Bobby Covington, Lewis Covington, and Robert Covington;  five grandchildren: Scottie Goldston, Tashia Davis, Miracle T.  Sellars, Jasmine Butler, James Butler and Trinity Butler; one great grandchild, Grant Butler; a special niece, Elder Sonia Murphy  known as “That Girl Sonia”; a special friend, Gaynell Larose and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
