William McIver Obituary

William McIver, age 88 of 1324 Alden St, Spring Lake, NC passed on Monday, July, 29, 2019 at his residence.

WILLIAM “DOC” MCIVER, eldest twin of ten children born to John Henry McIver and Eula Headen McIver on September 15, 1930 in Lee County, NC.  He departed his life on July 29, 2019 at his residence, 1324 Spring Lake, NC, at the age of 88.

William joined Zion Holy Temple Church (Sanford, NC) at an early age and received his primary and secondary education in the Lee County School System, at Lee Training School (W.B Wicker), Sanford, NC.  William was enlisted early in the United States Army, having served and wounded in the Korean War, received numerous commendations for his dedication and bravery.  The discipline and patriotism he learned in the US Army never left him, as his friends will attest.  William worked as a Truck Driver for Sanford Tobacco Company for many years and later in Manufacturing at Carter Weber (Magnetti Marelli) until retirement.  After retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting and good-ole story-telling. “DOC” as he was commonly called, knew how to make sure that everyone had a good laugh as he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry McIver and Eula Headen McIver; Wives: Jean McIver and the former Minnie Pearl Johnson; brothers: Walter McIver(twin), Robert Lee McIver, Paul McIver, John Jr. McIver, and Sisters: Joyce McIver, Minnie McIver and Mary Elizabeth McIver.

William leaves cherished memories to his children:  Mitchell McIver of Spring Lake, NC, Melvin McIver of Southern Pines, NC, Micheal McIver (Constantine) of Sanford, NC, and Henry Lee Johnson of Sanford, NC; thirty-four grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; one brother: Jimmie Samuel McIver of Brooklyn, NY, and one sister: Ruth Sanders of Sanford, NC. He also leaves his legacy to several nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews and a host of relatives and special friends.
