William Frederick Jacobs

William Frederick Jacobs, age 79 of 608 W. Rose St., Sanford, NC passed on Monday, November 26, 2018 at his residence. 

William Frederick Jacobs, better known as Jake, made his peaceful journey to his Heavenly home on November 26, 2018.  His devotion and firm belief allowed others to witness the many miracles that God performed in his life on earth.

Jake was born on October 11, 1939 to the late Clarence Jacobs, Sr. and Gertrude Jacobs in Kansas City, MO.  He was immersed in Catholicism at an early age where he remained active and attended Mass until failing health prevented him.   He would continue to view Mass on television every Sunday until his untimely death.

Jake graduated from Manual High and Vocational School, June 10, 1960.  He enlisted in the Air Force the same year where he made a career and retired after 22 years of service.  It was here where he met and married Constance “Connie” Cole on November 2, 1964 in Oklahoma City, OK.   Their union produced one daughter, Diane.  The family made their home in Sanford following his retirement.

Jake was very athletic and became a talented baseball player.  He was even given an opportunity to play for a semi-pro team, which he turned down to go into the Air Force.  He would continue to recreationally play and watch his favorite KC Royals on television.

He was kind with a quiet demeanor.  He loved family and cherished visiting with his family in Kansas City.  He enjoyed seeing them this past summer.  He also loved music especially the Motown Sound.  He loved to laugh and would sneak in a joke when you least expected it.  He spent his final years of life sitting on the deck of their home with his beloved GrandDOG, Sasha.  Jake will dearly be missed by his loved ones near and far.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertrude Jacobs, Sr.; his sister, Mary; brothers, Clarence Jacobs, Jr. and Lloyd Harrington. 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie; daughter, Diane Person (Jeff) of Raleigh, NC, his grandchildren, Mykael of Greenville, NC, Tyson of Raleigh, NC, and Sasha of Sanford, NC; his sisters, Rose Birch (Joe) of Kansas City, MO, and Wilma Goodrich of Kansas City, MO; brother, Phillip Jacobs (Johnnie Mae) of Kansas City, MO: sisters in law, Patricia Newby (Robert) of Sanford, NC, and Rev. Dr. Edith Cole of Gainesville, FL, special niece, Dalpheny Minter (Quincy) of Sanford, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
