William Fonville Obituary

Mr. William Fonville, age 89 of 600 West Poplar Ave., Carrboro, NC passed on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC.

He was born October 15, 1929 in Green Level, NC. He was the son of the late Ed and Iona Fonville.

William attended school in Green Level. He worked at Georgia Pacific, as a life insurance salesman and retired from the University Presbyterian Church in hospitality. He attended St. Paul’s AME Church in Chapel Hill, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Iona Fonville, his son Donnie Luis Fonville; his brothers William Hester Fonville, Lloyd Fonville, and Linwood Fonville; and his sisters: Clauderene Fonville, Anna Bell Carr, and Lucille Leath.

Those left to cherish his memories, his wife Lennie Williams Fonville of Asheboro; NC; six children , Lendia Fonville , Ritchie Fonville (Annie) of Charlotte NC, Angela Marley, Jamie Fonville ( Jennifer), Scottie Fonville (Katrina) of Asheboro NC; and Annette Hinton (Eugene) of Atlanta GA; 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 2pm - 4pm at the Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro, NC
