Tony Ardezes Gilchrist

Tony Ardezes Gilchrist, age 59 of 66 Brinkley Hill Lane, Cameron, North Carolina passed on Monday, October 29, 2018 at his residence. 

Tony Ardezes Gilchrist was born December 17, 1959 to the late Mary Odessa Richardson and Neil Pulley. Tony transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly home on Monday October 29, 2018.

Tony “Duke Daddy”, as people knew him, spent his years in the Johnsonville Community where he became a member of Johnsonville A.M.E. Zion Church, and was a dedicated affiliate of the Male Choir and a lead singer.

Tony attended Harnett County Schools and loved sports. Tony loved singing as well as playing the Bass Guitar. His jobs included: Boise Cascade and Tyson Foods until health reasons.

Tony was a fighter, he fought until the end. He loved his family dearly and as we all know, no-one knows the day nor the hour that God will call us home.

Tony always told his wife, Karen, “You Will Always Be My First Love and My Last True Love”.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; Mary O. Richardson  and Neil Pulley; a sister, Vanessa Cotton, grandparents, George and Alice Gilchrist; and Wade and Iona Pulley.

Tony leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Karen Gilchrist; two sons; Rolando King of Fayetteville, N.C.; Brandon Gilchrist of Cameron, N.C.; three step-children; Shawn Thomas (Laura) of Broadway N.C.; Kaceia Johns (Putt) of Sanford, N.C.; Donte McMillan of the home; five sisters, Teresa Harris of Spring Lake, N.C.; Claudia Wright (Larry) of Tampa, FL; Nikkie Covington-Gilchrist (Christopher) of Charlotte, N.C.; Pastor Alice Hooker (Lewis) of Sanford, N.C.; Bobbie Jordan of Cameron, N.C.; father-in-law, Eugene Randon; two brothers-in-law, Kelvin Cotton of Lynette, AL; Cottous McMillan of Whitesville, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Vera Jones (Landy); nine grandchildren; Rolando King II of Fayetteville, N.C.; Aviana Strickland of Fayetteville, N.C.; Jasmine Gilchrist of Sanford, N.C.; Michael Gilchrist of Sanford, N.C.; Desiree Gilchrist of Sanford, N.C.; Jordan Thomas of Broadway, N.C.; Jaren Thomas of Broadway, N.C.; Jacqulyn Whitfield Thomas of Garner, N.C.; Channel Johns of Sanford, N.C.; seven aunts; Ellen G. Brewington (Henry) of Cameron, N.C.; Shirley Gilchrist of Spring Lake, N.C.; Luvenia Jones of Cameron, N.C.; Peggy Brinkley of Sanford, N.C.; Frances Pulley of Sanford, N.C.; Lola Wilson of Sanford, N.C.; Sandra Greene of VA; one uncle, Robert Pulley of Sanford, N.C. and he also leaves his memories to a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of his father-in-law at 42 Brinkley Hill, Cameron, NC.
