Thomas Junior Milliken

Mr. Thomas Junior Milliken,  age 83 of 21 Sols Place Pittsboro, NC passed on Friday, September 21, 2018 at The Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, NC.

Thomas Junior Milliken was born in Chatham County, North Carolina on April 17, 1935 to the parents of the late Sol and Juanita Milliken.  He departed this life on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, North Carolina.

Thomas Junior attended Horton High School.  He joined Mitchell Chapel A.M.E Zion Church at an early age.  He was custodian for Pittsboro Primary, North Chatham Elementary and East Chatham Medical Center.   Thomas enjoyed transporting his “riders” and sitting on the bench with his friends.  He would keep his great nieces and nephews supplied with stuffed animals that he had won from the grocery story vending machine.  He looked forward to making the coffee and passing out cookies at the Pittsboro AA. He provided this service until his health started to decline.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva ; his parents, Sol & Juanita;  two brothers, James and Curtis and a grandson, Chris.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted sister, Annie Lois Small, of the home ; a son, Robert J. Alston, Augusta, GA; 2 sisters-in-law; Guytanma Degraffenreidt (Kermit) Mt. Vernon, NY; Euphalia Farrar (Jimmy) Pittsboro, NC;  2 brothers-in-law Rufus Horton, Pittsboro, NC; Richard Horton (Janice) Asheville, NC.  Six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
