Mr. Thomas Martin Jr., age 80 of 1536 Goldston-Carbonton Road, Goldston, NC passed on Monday, January 1, 2018 at his residence. 

Thomas “Sonny” Martin Jr. was born to Thomas and Pauline Martin on September 7, 1937 and departed this life on January 1, 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. 

“Sonny” was a quiet, loving and very devoted man to his family.  He was a humble man and very hard working. He maintained a few jobs but retired from Moncure Plywood.

He married the love of his life,  “Cornelia” Doretha Rives Martin. To this union three children were born. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life. When his grandchildren came to visit his face would light up and that smile would come across his face. 

Early in life he joined Roberts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he maintained his membership until his death.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Madlean Bland and Rosa (Teen) Hill.

He leaves his legacy to his loving wife of 53 years,  “Cornelia” Doretha  Rives Martin; daughter, Priscilla; two sons, Tony (Maury), and Anthony; his three grandchildren, Whitney, Antonio and Deshaun; two brothers, Henry (Dorothy) and Percy (Von). He also leaves a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
