Thelma Inez (Wilson) Marsh

Mrs. Thelma Inez Wilson Marsh, age 85 of 2345 Meronies Church Rd, Bear Creek, NC passed on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC.

Thelma Inez Wilson Marsh was born to the late Brodie and Edna B. Wilson on February 11, 1934. She was called to eternal rest on April 18, 2019 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill NC.

Thelma attended schools in the Wake County School Center and later attended CCTC in Sanford NC.  As a youth she attended Hollands Chapel AME Zion Church & White Oak Baptist Church, of Apex, NC.

On April 18, 1954, she married the late CW (JC) Marsh and to their union six children was born, along with her baby sister that they raised. Upon moving to the Bear Creek area, she attended St. Matthews Holy Church of Bear Creek and then later attended Gethsemane Holy Church in Bear Creek. Thelma loved her church and was very supportive of different auxiliaries especially the annual Women’s Day, while her health permitted.

Thelma worked as a domestic worker for many years for different families and facilities, most recently at the Goldston Post Office. She also worked as an EMS for the Goldston Area Rescue Squad for a number of years. She loved to help whomever she could in her community with her medical expertise. Often times she would travel with her “medical bag” as she was always willing to help when she could. She loved flowers and taking trips with her sisters.  Thelma was a hairdresser and seamstress by trade, and also a great cook.

Thelma had a strong determination with everything she wanted to do.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Andre Lamont Marsh, and her siblings: Brodie Jr, Bobbie F., Billy R., Joe Louis, Russell and Cliffie Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children: John Lee (Bridgette) Marsh of Sanford, Richard Earl (Karen) Marsh of Moncure,  Doris Jean Raines of Goldston, Phyllis Ann Marsh, Debra Kaye Marsh, Wayme Andre Marsh, all of Bear Creek, NC, 17 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren & one great- great grandchild. She also leaves her siblings: Olivia (Daniel) Epps, of Fuquay Varina, Edna (Bobby) Horton, of New Hill, Joyce Smith of Sanford, Chester L. Wilson of Cary, NC and Tessie Wilson Watson of Siler City (whom she raised) one brother in law, Curtis Marsh of Sanford, NC; two sisters in law, Mattie Wilson of Apex and Martha Wilson of Smithfield, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Doris Raines at 1966 St. Luke Church Road, Goldston, NC
