Shirley Ann Jackson, age 75 of 797 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro, NC passed on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, NC.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Farrar Jackson (Cheryl) was born on November 12th, 1942 to the late Joseph T. Farrar and Nettie Alston Farrar of Chatham County.  She departed this life on November 12th, 2017 at the Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, NC.

Mrs. Jackson attended Horton High School and joined Mt. Sinai AME Church at an early age, where she was an avid member until her health declined.  After High school she immediately entered the working field, where she gave many years of dedicated service and retired from the University of North Carolina’s Food Care Services, where she served for 20 plus years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackson; mother, Nettie Farrar; father, Joseph T. Farrar; sister, Bertha Bruton.

She enjoyed playing basketball, fishing, traveling, doing crossword puzzles, and enjoying a “Good” home-cooked meal with friends and family.  She was a wonderful friend and sister, devoting mother, protective grandmother and mother in law who loved her sons like the sons she never had. We will remember her as a sweet, strong-willed, loving & caring person.

She leaves to Cherish her memories: two daughters, Wanda (Tim) of Pittsboro, NC and Charlene (Bentley) of Siler City, NC,  three grandchildren, Rashmi, Chasity and Te’Keyah; two sisters, Helen Brooks of Pittsboro, NC and Barbara Poole of Asheboro, NC; a brother-in-law Lexington Jackson of Chapel Hill; two sister-in-laws, Annette Farrington of Chapel Hill and Florene Jackson of Greensboro, NC; three god-children: Jocelyn Brooks of Durham, Sonia Alston of Pittsboro, and Tiffany White of Pittsboro and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, friends, relatives  and a new found sister, Glenda Clark.
