Roy "Snookie" Albert Wicker, age 69 of 1060 Goldston Carbonton Rd., Goldston, NC passed on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital.
Roy Albert Wicker, Jr, was born on December 14, 1948 in Sanford, North Carolina to the late Roy Albert Wicker, Sr. and Hazel Dowdy. On Friday, September 21, 2018, the angel of death came into his room, and Roy stepped peacefully across the threshold that we call death and into our Father’s house.
Roy was known as “Snookie, Undergrounder, Pokie, Grandpa, Paw-Paw, and Boo-Boo.” He was always ready to have a conversation and tell you what was going on in the neighborhood and the whole Chatham and Lee Counties. If he did not know it, it was not news! He drove clean cars (as in not one speck of dirt on them!) Collecting cars was a hobby that he loved to talk about and show off. He spoke his mind and did not hold things back, When his health permitted, he was everybody’s handyman and would often do odd jobs for those in the community just to be kind and helpful.
Roy was the supervisor at Selig Manufacturing in Siler City for many years. When they shutdown, he went to GKN Automotive until retirement. Not, being one to just sit around, he joined the Walmart Superstore in Siler City where he continued to work and make people smile up until his death.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney L. Wicker and his grandson, Kenneth Wayne Petty, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories : his loving and dedicated wife of 38 years, Sharon Headen Wicker; two children- Ursula Tysor and Reginald Wicker; a beloved step-son, Paul Headen; one sister, Myra Lucas (Donald); two brothers- Kenneth Wicker (Mary), and Anthony Wicker (Sarah); nine grandchildren: Kiandra, Tyrese, Devante, Franciscus, Brooke, Charles, Tyler, Mckenzie, and Cameron; five great grands, one aunt, Venice Dowdy; one niece, Gidget Pulley; three sister-in-laws; Bessie Glover, Izetta Rives, and Priscilla Headen; one brother-in-law, Adolpus Headen; two God children- SPC Jasmine Thompson and Pruitt (PJ) Jones; his special friend since childhood, Bennie Thompson; and a host of nephews, cousins, and friends.
