Rachel E. Rogers

Rachel E. Rogers, age 106 of 2746 St. Luke Church Rd., Goldston, NC passed on Monday, October 8, 2018.

Rachel Lambert Rogers, was born June 26, 1912 in Goldston, NC to the late Fisher Cass Reaves and Cora Rives Reaves.

In 1930, Rachel married James Lambert and to that union they were blessed with three children, the late James E. Lambert, Alphonso George     Lambert and Cora Webb. 

In 1960, Rachel moved her family to New Jersey, where she married James (JT) Rogers.  

Rachel worked for Gifford County School System, Gifford County, NC and Christ Hospital, Jersey City, NJ. 

In 1976, Rachel moved back to Goldston, NC to be closer to her siblings whom she loved. She rejoined St. Luke United Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Drury Underwood. She was an active member of the Usher Board, Trustee Board and she sang on the Choir. 

Rachel loved and adored her children especially her sons, Earl and George and her daughter, Cora was her best friend and confidant. 

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Fisher and Cora;

two husbands, James Lambert and James Rogers, two sons, Earl and George; one granddaughter, Terry Ann Webb; seven sisters, Ada, Gladys, Helen, Francis, Dalia, Lillian and Annie; and  one brother, William (Bill). 

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Cora Webb; daughter-in-law, Gladys Lambert; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren, godson, Kevin Marion, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
