Patricia Anne (McKinney) Roberts

Patricia Anne McKinney Roberts, age 62 of 1184 South Plank Rd., Sanford, NC passed on Friday, November 16, 2018 at her residence. 

Patricia Anne Miller McKinney- Roberts was born July 8, 1956 in Stamford, CT to the late George and Bernice Miller.  She attended Norwalk High School in Norwalk, CT where she participated in many activities such as track and field, band, and tennis. She enjoyed ice skating, singing and fashion. Growing up she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Norwalk, CT where she attended Sunday School and served on the Jr. Usher Board. She later received her Associates degree in Medical Office Technology from Central Carolina Community College.

In 1974 she married the late Steven E. McKinney Sr. and to this union two children were born: Stephanie Monique McKinney and Shaki Lamar McKinney.  She later married Glen Roberts in 1998 and relocated to Sanford, NC where she became a member of New Hope AME Zion Church and served on the Usher Board, Voices in Praise choir, and the Stewardess Board.

She was employed at Pathmark Supermarket, Norwalk, CT; Sanford Medical Group, Sanford, NC; and Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford, NC. You could always count on her to greet you in the halls with a warm smile and a friendly good morning.

Patricia loved her family and loved to cook especially her world-famous potato salad. She enjoyed shopping, particularly at Belk, Cato, Walmart and yard sales. She loved quartet gospel music and would travel all over with her husband to attend musical programs. One of her favorite past times was to participate in the local Zumba classes with her daughter-in-law, Devona. Her favorite vacation place was the beach or anywhere with water. Many Thanksgiving holidays were spent at the beach with her family.

Patricia loved people and always made them feel welcomed and special. She provided love, wisdom and honesty to all she came in contact with. She became a foster parent and opened her home to many children, adopted them into her family and regarded them as her own children Stayed in contact with them until the time of her illness.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her husband, Glen Roberts of the home; three daughters, Stephanie McKinney (Rodney) of Sanford, NC; Dena Roberts (Ed) of St. Albans, NY; and Shauna Parker of Montgomery, AL; two sons, Shaki McKinney (Devona) of Sanford, NC, and Doran Roberts of St. Albans, NY ; four brothers:  Kevin (Delia) Miller of Surprise, AZ, George (Judi) Miller of Stratford, CT, David Miller of Stratford, CT and Michael (Cheryl) Miller of Orangeburg, SC;  three Sisters:  Davida Miller of Bridgeport, CT, Rometa Miller of Stratford, CT and Cassandra Fuller of Orangeburg, SC;  eleven grandchildren:  Nakiaah, Steven, Brendon, Aniyah, Shaleah, Rah’Shaun, and Jah’Marion all of Sanford, NC; Robert (Jessica) and Emani’ of St. Albans, NY; Shauntest (TaWanda), and Javan all of Montgomery, AL; five great- grandchildren; two sisters-in- law: Ruth Kelly of St. Albans, NY, and Marva (James) Jeffries of Whiteville, NC; three special friends who were like her sisters; Linda Denkins, Roenia Cox, and Linda Sydnor. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, foster children, other relatives and friends.
