Ollie McLucas Obituary

Ms. Ollie Belle McLucas, age 85 of 605 W. Spruce St. Sanford, NC passed on Saturday, November, 30, 2019 at her residence.      

Mrs. Ollie Belle McLucas was born to the late Scott White and the late Annie Minter White Buie on January 14, 1934 in Lee County North Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday Nov, 30 2019.

She was married to the late James Willie “Mac” McLucas and to this union 7 kids were born.

At an early age, Ollie made the decision to make Jesus her personal Savior. She united with Wall Street Baptist Church (now First Calvary Baptist Church) in Sanford where she was Baptized and actively engaged and in many ministries over the course of the years.

She was recently honored during the church's 139th year celebration.

Ollie attended Lee County Training School, Central Carolina Community College and Campbell University.

Ollie worked in various industries over the years, including manufacturing, servicing and early childhood education. After her retirement she and Mr. McLucas worked for several years as caretakers for First Calvary Baptist Church.

Ollie was an active member in the community. She participated in the "Behind the Walls Ministry." She enjoyed going to the Sanford Enrichment Center to socialize and play games.

Physical fitness was very important to Ollie. She was a member of Sanford Cardiac rehab group for over 20 years. She participated in Lee County Senior Olympic Games. Sports included Basketball, Tennis, Shuffleboard and Bowling. She became an Olympic Champion, earning 7 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

Ollie loved to travel. Before his death, Mr. McLucas and Ollie traveled extensively on the high seas visiting places such as: Jamaica, Cancun, Bermuda and Aruba. After Mr. McLucas passed, she continued her travel to places such as West Memphis TN, Dallas TX, Washington DC, Oklahoma and Atlanta. Over the last few years Ollie favorite vacation destination was the North Carolina Outer Banks. She enjoyed visiting Cape Hatteras lighthouse; taking the ferry to Ocracoke Island. She also enjoyed visiting The Wright Brothers National Flight Museum, Avon Pier.

She was preceded in death by her  husband, James Willie “Mac” McLucas; parents, Scott and Annie White; sisters, Scottie and Elma; brothers; Richard and Simpson, and sons; David and Wayne McLucas.               

She leaves not to mourn but to cherish her memories: daughters, Elma McLucas of Sanford, NC; Shirley Bland (Ernest) of Apex, NC; Tina McLucas Broussard (Dan) of Dallas, TX and Carol Talley (Rickey) of West Memphis, AR; son, Wille Lee McLucas (Tiffany) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren: Erica Sanders, Chimela Brooks, Yukita McLucas, David Heck, Jeconias Heck, Quintina Alford, Joshua Heck, Kelsey Heck, Jonathan Rogers; great-grandchildren, Calenesi Barringer, Zachary Barringer, James Jones, Cameron Heck, Paige Hyde, Cade Heck, Tyler Heck, Jaydes Heck, Ava Alford, and Romeo Rogers; and brother, Donald White (Viola) of Sanford, NC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
