Mr. Vernell Bernard Harris

Mr. Vernell Bernard Harris, age 68 of 342 Temple Ave., Sanford, NC passed on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his residence.

Vernell Bernard Harris was born in Randolph County April 5, 1950 to the late Vernell Harris and Fannie Cornelia Harris. He departed this world Sunday, May 6, 2018.  

He was the oldest of four siblings. Mavis, Myrtise (Vender) and Ringo all of Sanford, NC.

Bernard was a graduate of W.B. Wicker High School (Class of ’68) where he was a gifted athlete. Playing various sports including basketball, baseball and football. He proudly worked as a lineman at Carolina Power and Light Company for over 17 years. Bernard was also a driver for the US Postal Service and he later retired from Moncure Plywood.

Never being at a loss for words, most considered him to be a comedian, he was always ready to tell a joke. Bernard was known as the life of the party, bringing laughter and joy to many. He was an encourager, always willing to help those in need and an avid sports fan (GO COWBOYS!). Bernard enjoyed cruising in his Cadillac, spending time with family and friends and faithfully played the lottery.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his five children: Nejla deLambert (Chris), Tamara Holloway (Tracy) of Greensboro, NC, Vernell Winchester (Avery) of McLeansville, NC, Bernard Harris of Greensboro, NC and Shakeel Harris of Durham, NC, 14 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will never be forgotten.        

Family will be receiving friends at the home of his sister, 1371 Brookhollow Dr., Sanford, NC.
