Mr. Martin “Pernell” Clemons was born December 31, 1964 to the late Burbie Clemons and Maggie Clemons. God called him home on June 22, 2019.
Pernell was raised in Olivia and attended Johnsonville High School. He loved to sing in the choir. He worked on the farm in his early years. He also worked at Cigar Supply and Coty.
Pernell joined Murchison Chapel AME Zion Church and loved spending time with his family and friends; especially his elderly mother. He was a happy person and he loved to have fun. His favorite line was: “Boy that’s bad”.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers: Burbie Jr., Randy, Ronnie and Patrick Clemons.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Maggie Clemons of Sanford, NC; five sisters, Bethea Williams (Will) of Woodbridge, VA., Carolyn Royal (James) of Columbus, GA., Maggie McBryde (Russell), Debra Clemons and Janice Hardy all of Sanford, NC; eight brothers, Herbert and Carlos Clemons both of Sanford, NC, Anthony Clemons of Greensboro, NC, Pierre Clemons (Naomi) of Boston, MA, Oliver Clemons (Margaret) of Lemons Springs, NC; Eric, and Dennis, James Clemons (Janice) all of Olivia, NC. He also leaves a special friend, James McCormick and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
