Marcelene McLean

Marcelene McLean, age 72 passed on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sanford, NC.

Ms. Marcelene Minter McLean entered into this world on January 30, 1945 to the late McKinley and MaeBelle Minter and entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, September 5, 2017.  Marcelene attended and graduated from W.B. Wicker School in 1964.  She was a homemaker and later in life, she worked as a seamstress at Wyatt Knitting Company and the Koury Company.  In her spare time, she was an avid bingo player when she was not helping others decorate and clean their homes.

Marcelene received Christ at an early age while attending her home church, New Endland A.M.E.Zion Church until later in her life, she started visiting St. Mark UCOG and later became a faithful member.  

Marcelene was truly a jewel.  She loved life, her family, all of her children, grandchildren and most of all, she loved Christ.  She was very humble and stayed on the go, helping anyone that she could help.  Her motto was, “I never know when I will need someone to help me”.  Her passion was decorating and making those famous pound cakes that everyone loved.  Marcelene was known for those fancy suits and keeping her hair in place.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jasmine Wicker and her sister, Priscilla Minter.

Marcelene leaves to cherish her memories her five children; Travis (Tonia) Watson, Schricka (Scott) Johnson, Shonda Moncrease, Bridget Pearson and Leslie “Danielle” Quick; two special godchildren, Bennie Kilgore and Deon (Clara) Allbrooks; a sister, Bonita Lanier,  a very special aunt, Mattie Williams, all of Sanford, North Carolina; two very special god sisters, Emily Johnson of Danville, Virginia and Betty Stroud of Cameron, North Carolina; twenty-one grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and host of very special  nieces and nephews that meant the world to her.

The family will receive friends at 4121 Carson Drive, Sanford, NC.
